Church Dress Dilemma... Necklines!

When you think of innappropriate necklines you may think of these...

Clearly they are definitely innappropriate for the event which is Church.But what about the ones that make you say... hmmmmmm maybe.. maybe not? Some necklines are clearly not suited for Church. The hardest part is deciding if it will make the brothers focus on your blessing instead of receiving theirs.

Let's look at a few that may make you say... hmmmmm.

Church Dress @...SWAY Magazine Monologues Event

So Church Dress got an invite to the SWAY Magazine Monologues Event and it was GRAND! We are kinda new to the VIP treatment but had a blast with our girl Shana. Hack stopped by to chill and then went back to making the big bucks. Loads of people were there. Many influential Black Canadians were present such as Zanana Akande, Alejandra Brava, Wells Davis, Joan Jenkinson, Clifton Joseph, Andrew Moodie, Dwayne Morgan, Naki Osutei,Michael Thompson and Rinaldo Walcott, just to name a few. The night was hosted by the noteworthy Farley Flex. We even met up with our long time friend EMZ ( One of our Young Millionaires. The post is soon to come.) after 5 years!


We honestly can say that we SWAYed the night away!

Church Dress Dilemma...And Her Fingernails Matching :)

Church Dress girls always have their fingernail's matching!  I actually can't be bothered with putting on the coloured paint. A nice bronze or beige does me good. Tash loves the classic acrylics and Cherith loves mixing and matching colours. We have various opinions regarding nail polish and so do many women in the church. Some do not believe that we should be wearing nail polish at all. Others think that bit of colour or artificial length won't hurt nobody. Though the Bible did not say "Thou Shalt not wear nail polish", it is still considered a "grey area" in the church. Grey areas can either make or break ya in that crossing that line may result in someone being offended. On the other end of the scale, God takes you as you are nail polish and all. Remember that as you grow in Christ, He molds and develops you into someone different. The things you did before you may not do anymore. What He expects is for you to listen to His voice while your life is guided by His hand. " 16-When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into the full truth. He won't speak on his own. He will speak what he hears and will tell you about things to come." John 16:13 What do you think? Another Church Dress Dilemma Solved!

Church Dress Dilemma... Leggings, Stockings and Tights(LST)

The craze of leggings. stocks and tights (LST) has infiltrated the lives of many women.

Just look at my colourful collection.

Before we speak about wearing leggings to Church lets differentiate between the terms leggings, stockings and tights.

• Leggings the thickest of them all and can be worn under pants, dress or oversized Sweater.
• Stockings are the sheer and imitate your skin. They can also be coloured and you skin peeks through.
• Tights are solid stocking that are not sheer and thicker than stockings.
  

My favorite look with basic black leggings is a long sweater or dress and boots.

Even though LST are cozy, warm and very fashion, can they be worn to Church?

Here is my opinion ( which may not be yours) Being appropriate is very important when coming to Church. Leggings worn in the wrong way can be a disaster! Tights are a simple way to add colour and also can be worn as an alternate to sheer stockinsg. Stockings are the traditional type of hosiery for Church and always look classy and neat. Make sure they do not have any unintentional ladders aka runs. To play it safe tights and stocking are a great choice. For an edgier look leggings with a pair of booties would your best bet!

Confessions of a Church Dress Shopaholic!

Yes, the movie is out and not getting fantastic reviews. In the last days we were told about various signs too look out for.

Nowhere did I read that there would be a RECESSION! But even in these difficult times we can still enjoy our fashion. Yes I said OUR fashion. Here are a few tips on saving a few pennies...


O-Open up your CLOSET and see what you can find. You may find pieces that you forgot you had. Modify and reinvent them while saving big bucks.

U-Understand your personal style. There is nothing wrong with purchasing a new piece that is not exactly your style but brings a new element to your collection. Make sure what you buy will be long lasting and of a high quality. This tip has been the center of my shopping experience and it works.

R- Repeat items that are worth it. If you are buying items that you love why not where them twice or thrice? Dress them up with heels and make them casual with flats and oversized tote.
